The 2017 Australia Day Ceremony will be conducted on the foreshore of Lake Bonney in Barmera, this is in keeping with the annual rotation policy of hosting the event on alternate years between the townships of Berri and Barmera.
Once again the plan for activities on the day will commence with a Community Walk, followed by a FREE breakfast consisting of bacon, eggs, pancakes and/or fruit prepared and served by Councillors, volunteer staff and service club members.
Formal proceedings begin at 8:15am with a welcome address by the Mayor, followed by Australian Citizenship ceremonies, entertainment by local performers, guest speakers and the presentation of Australia Day Awards.

On 26th January 2016 the Berri Barmera Council Community Awards were presented on the Berri Riverfront.
The Mayor, Elected members and staff would like to congratulate this years worthy Australia Day Award recipients; Nancy Murdock, Eboni Frankel, SA Carp Frenzy and Riverland Farmers' Market.
The ceremony was preceeded by the annual celebration walk and breakfast and attended by approximately 250 Berri Barmera residents and visitors.
