Mayor Peter Robert Hunt
|
Married to Ann, have four adult children, nine grandchildren and live in Barmera.
First elected to Council in 1987 with the District Council of Barmera and continued until 1993 when my family and I moved to Berri and did not seek re-election. I decided to nominate as a Councillor again with the Berri Barmera Council in 2000 where I have remained. In November 2006 I was successful in becoming Mayor, a position that I hold with great honour and respect and will continue at least until 2022.
Having lived in both Berri and Barmera and surrounding towns for most of my life has been very beneficial, and given me a good understanding and insight as to what is required within our district of some 508 square kilometres. The towns within our area include Barmera, Berri, Cobdogla, Glossop, Loveday, Monash, Overland Corner and Winkie.
Over the years as a Councillor and now as Mayor, I have been very privileged to have worked with a great bunch of Elected Members, Staff and Volunteers whose goals and aspirations have been to build a better community for our residents. To see that we are achieving that; is very rewarding.
We have a great lifestyle within our area; by working together, we not only keep it that way, we also progress and prosper.
