I am married to Ann and have four adult children and five grandchildren. I was born and bred in the Riverland and over the years have lived in each area of the three Council districts within the Riverland region. They include the Berri Barmera Council, the District Council of Loxton Waikerie and the Renmark Paringa Council.
I was first elected to Council in 1987 with the District Council of Barmera and continued until 1993 when I moved to Berri and did not seek re-election. I decided to stand for Council elections again with the Berri Barmera Council in 2000 where I have remained, and was successful in the November 06 elections in becoming Mayor, a position that I hold with great honour and respect.
Having lived in both of the previous Council areas (Berri and Barmera) has been very beneficial and given me a good understanding and insight as to what is required within our district of some 508 square kilometres. The area covers the surrounding towns of Barmera, Berri, Cobdogla, Glossop, Loveday, Monash, Overland Corner and Winkie.
Over the next four years my goal is to continue to unite Council and the Community together wherever possible, and that will be achieved by involving them more in the decision-making processes of Council and through consultation. We have a great lifestyle within our area; by working together we not only keep it that way, we also progress and prosper.
