Game Changer - Riverland

Book online now to reserve your seat for the official launch of a brand new Riverland initiative. The launch will be held on May 29th at the Barmera Monash Football Club, with registrations closing on the 24th May. The Game Changer, is a community initiative, supported by Riverland Sporting Clubs, and is designed to assist the prevention of drug use, alcohol abuse, family violence, mental health and suicide, whilst also developing young adults into becoming the next generation of community leaders.

Roadside Waste Bin Collection

When putting your bins out for collection, they need to be within 1 metre of the roadside/kerbing. As from 1 June, bins that are not placed correctly will not be emptied. Residents located on the Sturt Highway and Old Sturt Highway (Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure roads) may place their bins further than the required 1 meter for safety purposes due to higher traffic volumes.

Hard Waste Collection 2017

The Berri Barmera Council is partnering with Diabetes SA for its FINAL collection in the area for donations and are asking you to get behind them with the “Blue Bag” collection on 26 and 27 April. Other hard waste collection from residential properties in Berri, Barmera, Cobdogla, Glossop, Loveday and Monash will be undertaken in May. To ensure you understand what is required, please read through the attached brochure. Out of town residents have been given the opportunity to take part, by being able to take one free 6x4 trailer load (approx. 2 cubic metres) of items to the Transpacific Waste Transfer station, Berri, from Saturday 29th April until Sunday 14th May. The items in this load can be a combination of the items listed on the brochure.

SA Regional Tourism Summit

The Riverland will be playing host to this year’s SA Accredited Visitor Information Centre State Conference, which will for the first time ever include the SA Regional Tourism Summit from May 16-18. The Summit is jam packed with interesting tours, breakfasts and dinners. The general public are welcome to attend some of these events.

Exterior Painting of Bonney Theatre

1 March 2017
The exterior painting of the Bonney Theatre, Barmera Soldiers Memorial Hall and façade of the Barmera Library will be commencing 2 March and will take approx. 4 weeks to complete. During this time, fencing and bunting will be used to ensure the safety of residents and contractors. Please be aware that access to the library will be through the rear entrance for 2 and 3 March. Fun Run and Meningococcal awareness

On Sunday 2 April, a Fun Run and Meningococcal awareness event will be held in Renmark. JAZMYN’s Fun Run will not only raise awareness of the disease, but raise funds for Meningococcal Australia. There will also be plenty to entertain the kids including face painting, jumping castles etc.
