Murray Cod Restock Day

Murray Cod Stock Enhancement Project - Stage 2

This project will stock 75,000 Murray Cod fingerlings into the Murray River between Lock 3 and Lock 5 in early 2018.

The stocking program will align itself with the 'best practice' approach developed by the SA Government through Murray Cod Stock Enhancement Working Group (MCSEWG) administered by PIRSA Fisheries.

Continuing to stock the Murray River will result in the improvement of the Murray Cod population and will directly support a sustainable recreational fishery that delivers significant environmental and socio-economic benefits to South Australia and the Riverland region.

Stage 2 will see partnerships between Renmark to the Border Local Action Planning, Renmark Paringa Council, RecFish SA, Berri Barmera Council and Loxton Waikerie Council.

Volunteer Recruitment NOW CLOSED for Berri Barmera Council as we have reached capacity.

If you would still like to volunteer then please visit District Council of Loxton to register there www.loxtonwaikerie.sa.gov.au/lwmurraycod

Alternatively, join us at Overland Corner on Sunday 11 February at 11.0am to celebrate the restocking of 25,000 Cod Fingerlings into the Murray River.
