Council Tourism Services
Tourism is a key economic driver in the district with 213,000 visitors coming to the Berri Barmera area in 2016-17 and contributing $51 million to the local economy.
With more than 100 local businesses, benefiting from tourism during this period, the Tourism Industry is the fourth largest employment industry sector in the district, behind manufacturing, agriculture and utilities.
A great deal of what Council does, directly supports tourism, from town beatification, Lake and River paths, trails, playgrounds and recreation grounds. We invest into many major and Community events and operate the Berri Visitor Information Centre and also provide operational funding to the Barmera Visitor Centre.
Council also invests in to Destination Riverland and Regional Development Australia to support the growth of local tourism and business's across our region.
