Public Consultation - Growth Strategy

In 2021, Council engaged Holmes Dyer planning consultants to work with Council and the Community to develop a Growth Strategy for the Council area.

The Growth Strategy is a 25-year plan developed under Council’s Strategic and Community Plan which details a shared vision, spatial framework and targeted initiatives to drive growth across the region.

Once finalised, the Growth Strategy will directly inform Council’s strategic planning, asset and infrastructure planning and budget priorities.  The strategy will also be used for Council to advocate to the State Government and other partners to secure grant and investment attraction funding and the direction of State Government Regional Planning.

The draft growth strategy has been informed by earlier community consultation that was undertaken in 2021 which gathered information and experiences about the district and individual townships.

Holmes Dyer have analysed this early community feedback, along with completing a review of population, land-use, economic and tourism development, infrastructure planning and built environment, landscape and streetscape design analysis to inform this draft Growth Strategy.

This Growth Strategy includes a vision, set of growth targets and a detailed implementation plan with prioritisation.  Berri Barmera Council is now seeking feedback on this draft plan prior to adoption from the community.
