Hope Street Mural

Hope Street - An outdoor gallery for the whole family

HOPE STREET was a street art project aimed to create an outdoor gallery accessible to all, representing the community in all its diversity, celebrating creativity and increasing connectivity.

Following the success of HOPE STREET in other districts, Berri Barmera Council partnered with Country Arts in 2017 to bring the next stage of this Public Health project to Berri.

Artist Sarah Boese who created the stunning HOPE STREET mural in Mannum, was commissioned for the Berri project located at the Vaughan Terrace amenities laneway.

Following a community consultation process to develop the design concept, Sarah invited the community to come along to workshops. This hands on experience was offered to anyone interested in finding out more about street art, learning techniques or gaining new skills  – no experience required. The  work was strongly influenced by the conversations with local aboriginal community member, discussing the importance of the plants and creatures living in our Murray River.

Sarah was to return to Berri, as a mentor in the development of the 'Guys Surf and Streetwear' mural in Wilson Street.
