Rate Relief During COVID-19

We understand that the current COVID-19 situation is rapidly changing and that this is a difficult time for our community.

We know many people may be facing financial hardship during this uncertain time.  If you are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19, please give us a call to discuss how we can support you.

We will support you to organise a payment arrangement specific to your financial circumstances.

As a start, Council are waiving all fines and interest, for payments not made by the due date until 31 August 2020, at which time the situation will be reviewed.

Rate Remission Policy

As part of the Annual Business Plan, Council has adopted the Rate Remission Policy.  This policy is in addition to all other rebates and concessions available on Council Rates and applies to some pension concession holders and self-funded retirees (eligibility criteria apply).

For the 2020/21 financial year and taking into account the economic impacts suffered by businesses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council is offering, on application, a rate remission, on grounds of hardship, to businesses eligible for the Job Keeper payment from the Commonwealth Government, and for businesses that are eligible for the Job Keeper but have chosen not to trade, as follows:
 50% for the first instalment; and
 25% for the second instalment.

If you wish to apply for any of these remissions, please click on the link below and read through the policy itself and then complete the application form with any supporting documentation and drop it into the Barmera Office, Barwell Avenue, Barmera, or the Berri Office, Wilson Street, Berri.
