Community Grants Program
Berri Barmera Council’s Community Grants Program is for community groups to receive support to develop projects, programs and events that enhance community well-being and increase participation in social and leisure activities.
There are two funding rounds per year, usually March and August, the details for the next round will be listed below.
Applications for Community Grants
Our Community Grants Program provide funding for community initiatives including projects that develop community capacity and capital works projects delivering community facilities improvement. Grants of up to $4,000 (conditions apply) for Capital Improvements and up to $1,500 maximum (or $2,500 inclusive of cash and in-kind support) (conditions apply) for Event/Activities are available to eligible community groups.

Community Groups from the Berri Barmera district are invited to apply for funding and in-kind support for projects, programs and events that support our communities wellbeing, leisure time activities, inclusion and social connectedness.
To give your application the best chance of being successful, Please:
- Review the Grant Guidelines to identify which Grant Application to use
- Make sure you read the eligibility criteria for the Application selected
- Complete all required sections of the Application Form
- Add any supporting documentation requested
- Submit your application by 5pm on Monday 15 April 2024.

Acquittal Form
Following receipt of grant funding, it is a requirement that an acquittal document be forwarded to Council within 12 months. You can download your copy here.

Minor Support Funding
Council has made provision for a limited allocation of funds to support organisations in need.
Applications for funding will be received between the six monthly rounds of the Community Development Grants in special circumstances only if urgency and/or need can be determined. These applications are limited to $500.
Quick Response Donations and Organisational Support Donations and Services Support Donations will be processed throughout the year, as they are received, under the delegated authority of Council to the Chief Executive Officer.
Quick Response Donation
A quick response grant of up to $500 is available for Local organisations to commit to a time sensitive program/activity that would otherwise not be able to pursued within the normal Community Development Grant timelines.
Organisational Support Donation
A one-off donation (of up to $500) may be available to assist local organisations who provide a high level of community service and may not be able to operate without the support of this Council (or for regional groups, the combined Riverland Councils).
Services Support Donation
In-kind support to a maximum of $500 may be available for local organisations to assist with activities such as; hire of rooms and/or from Council, equipment (such as chairs/trestles/bollards) for small community events, minor building works, a series of smaller activities listed above occurring across the year.

Youth Sport & Cultural Sponsorship
A one-off donation (Up to a maximum of $500 - See Category Criteria) to assist young local individuals to attend National or International representative activities. Activities may include, sporting or cultural endeavors. Preference will be given to individuals who may not otherwise be able to attend the function without this support. Grants Assist (SA Government)
Local businesses, community organisations, clubs and individuals are also able to apply for grants from the State Government. GRANTassist provides the community with access to current information on State Government assistance and programs relevant to Community Groups, Clubs and Individuals.
GrantsLINK (Federal Government)
The GrantsLINK website lists funding available under a variety of grant programs for individuals, businesses and communities to help them to develop solutions to local and national problems, fund ideas and initiatives or provide assistance in times of hardship.
