Berri Library reopening just days away
Published 8th January 2025
The Berri Library at 29 Riverview Drive will be open to the public on Monday 13 January, with a formal opening event to occur in February.
Berri Barmera Council Mayor Ella Winnall said the library is a place for both community members and visitors to enjoy.
“We are excited to be reopening the Berri Library at a new location,” Mayor Winnall said.
“The building has been re-fit with direct input from the community, via the Library Services and Community Space Advisory Group.
“The Berri Library will serve as a key public space in the centre of town and we are looking forward to the community being able to utilise the new location and all that it offers.”
The Berri Library at Riverview Drive will help activate the Berri riverfront and along with housing books and a historical collection, it also features a children’s area, a meeting room and spaces to read, study and work.
"The Berri Library continues to have a great collection with almost 20,000 items and will continue to contain items which are available in a variety of formats, for differing ages and interests to ensure there is plenty for everyone in the community to enjoy,” Mayor Winnall said.
“In addition to the Berri Library collection, library users also have access to 2.83 million items from 130 libraries across South Australia, via the One Card network.”
Mayor Winnall said Council is excited to welcome locals to the new location and all the services and events that library users know and love – such as Rhyme Time and children’s holiday activities – which will begin in due course.
“Libraries are about so much more than books,” Mayor Winnall said.
“We know that our regular library users will enjoy the new site, and we also look forward to welcoming new library users to come and see what the Berri Library has to offer.”
Details about the formal opening event next month will be advised soon.
