DAIP consultation now open
Community members are invited to have their say on the Draft Riverland Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026–2030 (DAIP), with public consultation open from now until 27 May 2026.
The DAIP, developed collaboratively by Berri Barmera Council, the District Council of Loxton Waikerie and Renmark Paringa Council, outlines a framework to improve access and inclusion for people with disability across the Riverland over the next four years.
The draft DAIP has been shaped through early consultation with the community, staff and elected members in November 2025.
This included participants with lived experience of disability and service providers, whose insights and experiences have helped inform the priorities and actions outlined in the Plan.
The priorities in the DAIP include making Council events more accessible, improving buildings, open spaces and infrastructure through existing asset management processes, and ensuring community engagement is inclusive and accessible to all.
The DAIP also focuses on improving accessibility of key Council documents, digital accessibility, supporting inclusive volunteering and building a more inclusive Council workforce.
At a regional level, the DAIP strengthens collaboration across councils to deliver more consistent outcomes, while also embedding accessibility into emergency management planning.
Residents, stakeholders and organisations are encouraged to review the draft and provide input during the consultation period.
