Council appoints new deputy mayor

Councillor Trevor Scott has been appointed the new deputy mayor of Berri Barmera Council.

The appointment was made at last week’s monthly council meeting after former Deputy Mayor Andrew Kassebaum resigned from the role.
Cr Kassebaum was elected deputy mayor in November 2024, but decided to stand down from the position due to unforeseen personal reasons.
“Unfortunately, personal circumstances mean I can no longer commit sufficient time to the role of deputy mayor at present,” Cr Kassebaum said.
“This has been a hard decision, but I have had some matters arise that I need to prioritise over coming months.
“I wish to thank Berri Barmera Council for its support in recent times and have confidence in the council going forward.”
Berri Barmera Mayor Ella Winnall thanked Cr Kassebaum for his service and recognised Cr Scott in taking on the role.
“We have a wealth of experience across the chamber and I appreciate Cr Kassebaum stepping up late last year, and recognise Cr Scott returning to the role in 2025,” Mayor Winnall said.
