Colin Jennings Apex Park

Thanks to Federal Government funding through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, Council has been able to upgrade Colin Jennings Apex Park (Apex Park).

The park which is located between Worman and Cooper Streets, contains a blend of green open space and natural grounds with native trees.

Upgrades have included

  • installation of the first community pump track within the Riverland. This track was developed using the existing BMX track footprint. From young children on scooters, to tweens on bikes to teenagers on skateboards, this pump track has something for everyone. For more information and to find out what a pump track is, click here.
  • additional playground equipment (as seen below)
  • installation of an off-grid solar BBQ Shelter to encourage group social activities such as birthday parties.
  • connecting paths to increase accessibility. These can also be used as a junior scooter track for youngsters wanting to improve their riding skills.
  • dog park fencing upgrade
  • other inclusions are; clean-up of the site to enable safe nature play, treated pine fencing replacement, signage, additional seating, rubbish bins, drinking fountain and solar lighting

UPDATES

October 2021

Works on the pump track have recommenced with contractors able to gain access to South Australia. Due to the timeframes between works, some additional works are required to bring the tracks back up to standard. It is expected that this will be completed in the coming weeks.

The Dog Park fencing has been completed and has reopened to the public. Changes to the park include the addition of a small dog section where owners of smaller breeds of dogs are able to allow their four-legged friends to roam without feeling threatened by larger dogs. The park is now only awaiting some minor touches to fully complete this section of the Colin Jennings Apex Park project.

The new play equipment additions have been installed  We are awaiting delivery of the Australian made recycled plastic playground border edging which will allow this area to be finished off.

The Australian made solar BBQ shelter has been installed and will be available in the coming weeks for visitors to the park to cook up a feast.

Final touches including bollard fencing, a drinking fountain and seating will follow to finalise this project.

Watch this space for an official opening celebration date.
