2024 Young Citizen of the Year - Amelia Humphry

Amelia is an emerging environmental leader for our community who is willing to volunteer in activities that enhance our region and protects our citizens. Amelia has volunteered at the annual Danggali Pitfall Surveys that involves her utilising scientific methodology to capture, identify, count and record animals and reptiles at Danggali. As acknowledgement of her environmental endeavours, Amelia was awarded an Earthwatch Australia scholarship resulting in Amelia spending a week undertaking environmental conservation activities with senior ecologist Dr Peter Cale from the Australian Landscape Trust.  Amelia also volunteers at the Monash Country Fire Service and is in her 12th year of guiding with the Berri Girl Guides.  At the conclusion of her school year, Amelia was awarded two awards in horticulture and was also award the inaugural girls leadership award.
